 | 3rd Jan 2010 | King Alfred Running Day Winchester 1/1/2010
My first ever visit to this traditional New Year running day. It was certainly not a disappointment despite the bitterly cold weather. The contrasting light and cold conditions made photography challenging. The star of the show was for me the very rare Foden of Warrington Corporation.
Many thanks are due to the very many people who make this day possible and to the drivers and conductors who freely give their time, for the enjoyment of so many.

 | 22nd Dec 2009 | Roger Burdett Bus and Coach Collection
On the Saturday before Christmas 2009, a trip was made to view Roger Burdett's collection of restored and part-restored buses and coaches, plus buses of other individuals on both sites in Warwickshire and Staffordshire. It was an unbelievable day with a rare insight, into what is going on behind the scenes of the restoration of some very important vehicles. With many thanks to Roger and Lin for their wonderful hospitality in such freezing conditions.

 | 1st Nov 2009 | 50th Anniversary of the Midland Red Motorway Service
On 2nd November 1959, the opening day of Britain's first motorway, the M1, Midland Red introduced their express motorway service between Birmingham and London. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, two vintage motorway coaches and a modern National Express coach re-enacted the service on 31st October 2009. I was driving a car that was filming the occasion. My lasting memory of the day is the glorious sound of the BMMO engines (the C5 especially was running sweetly) as we passed the coaches both doing 60+ mph. This is my photo record of a memorable day.

 | 19th Oct 2009 | Old Midland Red bus routes
On October 18, 2009. A D9 5415 owned by Wheels (Midland Red Coaches) set out to rediscover two old bus routes operated by the Midland Red namely the 159 Coventry to Birmingham and 144 Birmingham to the Malverns. Good weather was experienced throughout and the 43 year-old bus performed magnificently, especially on the long hills of the Malverns - covering over 150 miles in the day.

A tremendous bank holiday operating day. Some lovely vehicles were running highlights being Roger Burdett's fantastic C5 coach the D10 double decker and a C1 coach. Thank you BAMMOT for a memorable day. Two days earlier the C5 coach had a photo-call for Coach and Bus Preservation Magazine on the M45 just south of Rugby.

 | 31st Jul 2009 | Worthing Seafront Bus Gathering and Running Day 2009
Well over eighty buses gathered at this event held on the last Sunday in July 2009. It was my first visit to the event and I was not to be disappointed. I spent many holidays in Sussex as a child so I always have had Southdown buses listed amongst my favourites. There were some wonderful buses on display, my favourite on the day kept changing as I moved down the display. The Leyland Cheetah, The Southdown Tiger, The One man operated half-cab double decker of Brighton or the Southdown Queen Mary - But which one!! A nice dilemma with so many beautiful examples on display.

 | 14th Jun 2009 | 50th Anniversary of the Midland Red D9
On a glorious June weekend the iconic D9 celebrated fifty years, in an event held at The Black Country Museum. The emphasis was quite rightly on the D9 but other Midland Red vehicles came along to support the day. The day attracted many former BMMO employees, from all divisions of the company, who added plenty of extra character to the day, with their stories of their times with 'the Red'.

 | 4th Oct 2008 | Barton 100 October 2008
On 4th October 2008. Barton's celebrated their centenary, at their Chilwell headquarters, in Nottingham. The chill wind that blew all day, could not outdo the warmth of the occasion extended to visitors and exhibitors alike. It had a wonderful sixties feel about it and numerous bus trips were enjoyed in a wonderful selection of vehicles. These pictures record memories of that nostalgic day. Thank you Simon Barton and your team.

 | 7th Sep 2008 | Midland Red Buses & Coaches
Devoted to Midland Red Buses and Coaches. Being born in Rugby, this was my 'local' bus company. My very earliest memories were of S6-15 class single deckers and C1-5 coaches - double-deckers not coming to the town until 1967, when the Railway Terrace Garage was rebuilt to accomodate them. Until then, I had to receive my 'fix' of double deckers, when visiting neighbouring Coventry, Leamington and Leicester.

Classic Lorries and Vans of all shapes and sizes, but all built for one common aim. To get goods and services to the consumer as efficiently as possible.
|
 | 6th Sep 2008 | Classic Cars
Some truly classic cars here. You may agree with that sentiment or not, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed photographing them. They all without exception were built in Britain, mostly in The Midlands.
