Midland Red's BMMO D9 returns to Leicester

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of the famous Midland Red D9 from regular service, four preserved vehicles took to the roads around Leicestershire including a stop at Quorn station on the Great Central Railway on Sunday 22nd November 2009. A DVD recording the days events including interviews is available from DAVideo (see links). Six cameramen captured some evocative moments of the day.

Scraptoft was where the final D9 service set out from on 31st December 1979 and it was fitting that BHA 399C, driven by Mike Greenwood led the convoy. Mike photographed the final D9 entering the garage all those years ago.
